Freddie Freeman Wins National League MVP

MLB announced Thursday afternoon that Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman has won the National League MVP.

This may be a surprise to some considering Mookie Betts was a thought to be the front runner for this award, after he led the Dodgers win the World Series.

Freddie Freeman did have a great season in 2020 and led the Braves to the NLCS. He is deserving of this award.

Let’s take a look at Freddie Freeman’s 2020 stats (take note these numbers were from a 60 game season):

  • Runs – 51 (led MLB)
  • Hits – 73
  • Doubles – 23 (led MLB)
  • Home Runs – 13
  • Runs Batted In – 53
  • Batting Average – .341
  • On Base Percentage – .462
  • Slugging Percentage – .640
  • Led Braves to NLCS
